About

Classical Education

What is a Classical Academy?
As a classical academy, our curriculum and teaching methods are based on classical learning. Classical learning is an educational method that focuses on studying the foundational works of literature, history, and philosophy that have stood the test of time. By deeply exploring these foundational studies, students discover enduring ideas and values that have shaped our society.

Cultivating Critical Thinking
This approach also emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills. Students are encouraged to ask questions, analyze texts, and engage in thoughtful discussions. Our curriculum challenges students to think creatively and independently, becoming problem-solvers and lifelong learners.

Preparing Students for Success in Life
Classical education prepares students not only for academic success but also for success in life. By fostering a love of learning and teaching students “how to think” rather than “what to think,” we equip them with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Christian Worldview
We provide classical educational approach with a Christian Worldview perspective, inspiring a lifelong love of learning centered on God’s love. Our PreK-8th grade classes have small class sizes (11 students on average), and we also offer full-time and hybrid options.

We Believe

Grace Alone.
God created a perfect world and two people, Adam and Eve, without sin. When they, in pride, disobeyed God’s command, they brought death and corruption to all of mankind and all of creation. Consequently, all people are sinners, accountable from birth for the sin they are born in and the sins they commit, and the wages of that sin is death. None of us are righteous, and none of us deserve God’s kindness, but God, in His mercy, sent His Son, Jesus, into the world to save the lost. . We are chosen by Him, not out of merit but solely out of grace. (Genesis 1 – 3, John 3:5-6, Romans 3:9-18, 6:23)

Faith Alone.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, true God, and true man, lived a sinless life in our stead. On the cross, He took upon Himself the sins of the world, made full payment for them, and won forgiveness for all. All those who believe in Him will receive eternal life. This life is a gift of God: we cannot earn it by performing good works or living our lives in a certain way. It comes only through faith in Christ. (Galatians 4:4-5, Isaiah 53:4-5, John 1:1-14, Romans 5:19, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Peter 2:24, John 3:16, Romans 5:6-8, Romans 3:23-24, Ephesians 2:8-9)

Scripture Alone.
The Bible is the Word of God. God the Holy Spirit gave to His chosen writers the words they were to write, thus making the Bible God’s own Word and the Truth, without error. This applies to everything written in Scriptures, and it is thus the sole rule and norm for all our doctrine. Jesus, the Savior of the world, is the heart and center of the Holy Scriptures. Through this Word, the Holy Spirit brings forth faith. (2 Peter 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 2:13(John 5:39, John 20:31, Acts 10:43, Romans 10:17, 2 Timothy 3:15)

Our Mission

The mission of MLCA is to mold and shape the minds and spirits of all students to become what God has created them in Christ to be.

This means:

  • Recognizing that each child has been created, redeemed, and gifted by God to serve His special purpose,
  • Nurturing their faith in Christ through faithful instruction in the Gospel of Christ,
  • Shaping their character through loving encouragement and discipline in accordance with God’s Word,
  • Enabling them to grow in intelligence and wisdom in all academic disciplines through the three phases of knowledge development: grammar (content), logic (evaluation), and rhetoric (application),
  • Equipping them to find fulfillment and purpose in life through serving God and neighbor in the vocation to which they are called, and
  • Preparing them to “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might by putting on the whole armor of God,” (Ephesians 6:10-11).
