Miguel Ruiz teaches our music/choir classes in addition to being the Director of Parish Music at Messiah Lutheran Church. He grew up in Holtville, CA and went to college at San Diego Christian College. He’s earned a Bachelor in Music and a D.P.M. via colloquy from Concordia, St. Paul. He’s currently studying for a Master of Music Education with a Choral emphasis through Westminster Choir College.
Miguel is married to his wife, Ei and they have four sons – Seth, Asher, Noah and Jonah. He is a “minority” in his own home where his wife and children speak primarily in Japanese to each other.
Miguel was an adult convert to Lutheranism – he was formerly an Evangelical Contemporary Worship Leader. He was drawn to the Lutheran tradition through the beauty of the Gospel reflected in our liturgy and hymns.
