18 Jun MLCA Preschool Camp ~ Week 1
By MLCA Pre-K Director, Linda Pinkston

Day 1 of Camp is in the books! The highlight of the day by far was when one of our wonderful MLCA families brought some baby goats & rabbits from their farm, and talked to the children about life on a farm! The children were able to ask a lot of questions and learned so much! After that, we herded (balloon) sheep, painted barns, planted seeds, played Cow, Cow, Chicken, and Farmer Says….and much more! Looking forward to another busy & fun day tomorrow!

Day 2 of camp! Today, we made noodle horses (for our horse race tomorrow), signs for tomorrow’s farmer’s market (which really brought out our campers’ creativity), played Farm Math Bingo, enjoyed the beautiful outdoors, and more! We also had a little friend who dropped by outside, who was keeping a close eye on what we were doing and really looked like he wanted us to let him join in! 🙂

Day 3 of Camp! Today, we had our Farmer’s Market. The children had to go “harvest” fruits and vegetables from our field outside, bring them in, then sell them to their fellow campers. 2 of our preschoolers made the most “money”, selling $165 worth of fruits & veggies to friends. This activity was designed to teach the children about how we count money when we are spending it, as well as how to count and make change (yes, we snuck in some more math!), and also a little about trying to bargain for a better price. We also had a horse race, a 3-Legged Race, and an Egg Relay! Overall, a busy but fun day!

Today marks the last day of our first week of summer camp! To finish out the week, we played a lot of games indoors and outdoors (though the wind interfered with a few!). And we also made some very yummy miniature apple pies!
